Volunteer

The Louisiana Golf Association has volunteer opportunities available within both the championship and course rating departments. Read more below to see if one is a good fit for you!

Each year the LGA conducts nine (9) championships that test the skills of amateur golfers. We are able to put on these great events because of the continued support of our member clubs and individual members. We are seeking people who would be willing to give some of their time to help in the areas of starting, scoring, pace of play monitoring, rules officiating (depending on experience), etc. This is an excellent opportunity to give back to the game and learn many of the integral functions specific to running a first-class golf tournament. Our events take place April through October.

The LGA Course Rating Team is comprised of trained staff and volunteers. Course rating visits involve tee-to-green measurement, evaluation of numerous obstacles for the scratch and bogey golfer (men and women), and recording of data and adjustments on USGA forms. Our volunteers play a vital role in the accuracy and consistency of USGA Course and Slope Ratings statewide. Upon completion of on-course work and forms, the rating team typically plays the golf course being evaluated.

If you have some free time and a love for golf, we encourage you to become a volunteer for the Louisiana Golf Association. We make certain that our volunteers enjoy and are rewarded for their time with the LGA.
