BO STEWART AND ANDREW NOTO SHARE LEAD AFTER THIRD ROUND IN 2008 LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

June 7, 2008 – Bo Stewart of Lake Charles and Andrew Noto of Luling share the 54 hole lead heading into final round play at the 2008 Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championship at Gray Plantation in Lake Charles. Stewart, a Gray Plantation member, shot a two-under par round of 70 on Saturday to finish 54 holes at two-under 214. Noto, a recent University of Louisiana-Lafayette signee, played in the final group on Saturday and shot a one-under par 71 to also stand at two-under 214.

Rounding out the top five heading into Sunday’s final round are: Baton Rouge’s Jarrod Barsamian at one-under par 215, Robby McWilliams of Bossier City at even par 216, and Cory Vincent of Sulphur at one-over 217. Robby Going and George Cestia of Lake Charles, also Gray Plantation members, share sixth place at 218.

Stewart, known for his length off the tee, shot nines of 36-34 with birdies on 3, 15, and 16, with his lone bogey coming on the par five 7th. Noto birdied two of the par threes (#8 and #13) with his other birdies coming on #2 and #16. He bogeyed 9, 11, and 12.

First round leader Eric Lavespere of Monroe shot his second consecutive 76 to stand tied for 13th, while second round leader Kyle Chauvin of Carencro struggled to a 77 on Saturday and ended the day tied for 8th with four other players, including five time runner-up Tommy Brennan.
The day’s best rounds were turned in by Greg Berthelot (68), and Brent Struthers, (69), both of Baton Rouge.

The Rocky Roquemore designed Gray Plantation course played to a par of 72 at just over 7,100 yards on Saturday. The course drew rave reviews from this field of the top amateur players in Louisiana. The wind was not as much of a factor on Saturday as it had been during the first two days of the Championship, but still forced some guesswork with club selection.

Final round play will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday off #1 tee with the leaders going off at 10:48 AM.
