PRESS RELEASE LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES 2008 RULES SEMINARS SCHEDULE May 5, 2008 -- Lafayette, Louisiana -- The Louisiana Golf Association on Monday announced a series of Rules of Golf Seminars to be held at five sites across the state during June and July. The seminars will be free to members of LGA Member Clubs and will include participants receiving a 2008-2009 USGA Rules of Golf booklet compliments of the LGA. LGA Executive Director Carr McCalla will conduct the seminars. McCalla has served on the USGA Rules of Golf Committee and has also served as a Rules Official at nine U.S. Open Championships, four Masters Tournaments, three U.S. Senior Open Championships, and numerous other USGA Championships. He will be conducting this year’s series of seminars shortly after returning from the 2008 U.S. Open Championship at Torrey Pines GC in San Diego. The seminars will be approximately two hours in length and will include a Power-Point presentation on: 1) How to use the Rules Book, 2) Commonly used and abused rules, and 3) Major rules changes for 2008. There will also be a Q & A session to conclude the seminar. Individuals who are members of non-LGA member clubs are welcome to attend but will be charged a seminar fee of $20 at the door. Each session will be limited to the first 100 individuals seated (80 at Baton Rouge site).
