DEADLINE FOR 2008 NET AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP MAY 6th

April 24, 2008 -- The entry deadline for this year's Net Amateur Championship is Tuesday, May 6, 2008. If you've not yet entered you can register online via the LGA's website (LGAgolf.org) by clicking here. If you'd prefer to send in a hard copy entry, click here to download an entry form. Note that entries must be received in the LGA offices by 5 PM on May 6.

We will again utilize the USGA's Exceptional Tournament Score Probability Table to reduce any handicap that exceeds a certain probability. We are pleased that using this table has brought significantly enhanced credibility to this net event. If a score exceeds normal probability, the competitor's handicap index is reduced based on the USGA table, the score is re-calculated, and the player plays with the reduced index for the remainder of the Championship.

Hosted by Santa Maria GC in east Baton Rouge this year, the Championship will be held the weekend of May 17-18, with practice round provided on May 16, along with a hamburger cookout and rules meeting that evening. Entry fee is $150...players can also compete in the concurrent LGA Net Club Team Championship at no additional charge. Three or four players can represent their LGA Member Club, with three of the four net scores counting each day. The low Club Team will take home a beautiful permanent crystal trophy to display at their home facility.

Online registration is also currently available for the Amateur Championship/April 29 deadline for entry (June 5-8/Gray Plantation), Junior Amateur/July 1 deadline for entry (July 9-11/Santa Maria GC), 4-Ball/July 7 deadline for entry (July 19-20/Carter Plantation), and Mid-Amateur/June 24 deadline for entry (August 1-3/Ellendale Country Club). Registration will open on June 1 for the Senior Amateur (August 14-16/Farm d'Allie GC) and Senior 4-Ball (September 20-21/Lake Charles Country Club).
