DEADLINE FOR LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP NEARS
April 10, 2008
-- Lafayette, LA -- The entry deadline for the
2008 Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championship is Tuesday, April
29, 2008. Applicants can register online via the LGA's website (LGAgolf.org),
or can download an entry form and send in a hard-copy entry. Entries
must be received in the LGA offices by 5 PM on April 29. The LGA
is again refunding $100 of the $200 entry fee to those not advancing
from sectional qualifying to the Championship proper.
This year's event, the 89th
edition of this prestigious Championship, will be conducted at Gray
Plantation, an extremely popular venue in Lake Charles, always rated by
Golf Digest as one of the top five courses in the state. The LGA
has conducted a number of its Championships over the years at Gray
Plantation but this will be the first time the Rocky Roquemorre designed
course has hosted the LGA's marquee Championship.
Qualifiers will be held in
early May at eight sites across the state with the Championship proper
set to take place June 5-8. 144 players will compete in Lake Charles to
see who emerges as the 2008 LGA State Amateur Champion.
Online registration is also
currently available for the LGA Net Amateur (May 17-18/Santa Maria GC),
Junior Amateur (July 9-11/Santa Maria GC), 4-Ball (July 19-20/Carter
Plantation), and Mid-Amateur Championships (August 1-3/Ellendale
Country Club). Registration will open on June 1 for the Senior Amateur
(August 14-16/Farm d'Allie GC) and Senior 4-Ball Championships
