Pine Shadows GC - Net Team Champions

Charles in the Troon flight;  Ronald King in the Prestwick flight; and Al Wyche in the St. Andrews flight.

This year’s event was held at the Robert Trent Jones, Sr., designed Santa Maria GC in Baton Rouge, which played to a par of 72 at 6,600 yards. In spite of the course being inundated with over five inches of rain earlier in the week it proved to be an extremely popular venue.

The LGA conducts this event to provide a Championship for the higher handicap player with procedures in place to assure that consistency and integrity are benchmarks for the event. The LGA utilizes the USGA Tournament Score Probability Table to adjust any handicap indexes when a player’s score exceeds normal probability.

In the sixth annual Net Club Team Championship, conducted concurrently with the Net Amateur, the team from Pine Shadows Golf Club in Lake Charles took a two-shot win over first round leader Oak Knoll Country Club from Hammond. Pine Shadows teammates Julius Courville, Al Lyles, Carl Lemaire, and Ricky Norwood combined to shoot a 13-over par score of 445 and capture the club’s third Net Club Team title.
