WILLOWDALE COUNTRY CLUB TAKES FOUR-SHOT VICTORY IN 2008 LOUISIANA GOLF
ASSOCIATION CLUB TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Patterson, Louisiana -- Starting the day with a precarious one-shot
lead, Willowdale Country Club of Luling fired a two-over par score of
290 on Sunday to outlast co-runners-up University Club of Baton Rouge
and OakWing Golf Club of Alexandria to win the 2008 Louisiana Golf
Association Club Team Championship. Willowdale’s victory came in their
first year of competition in this popular team event hosted for the 20th
consecutive year by the Louisiana Golf Association. Willowdale’s two day
total of 423 was nine-under par.
Brian Noto was medalist on Sunday, leading the way for Willowdale with a
3-under par 69; son Andrew Noto shot an even par 72, Jarrett Walker had
a one-over 73, and Duane Lorio fired a 76. Other Willowdale team members
were Seth Dufrene and Landon Clause.
The University Club’s team of Mike Gaudin, Scott Freeland, Scott Haynie,
Ben Wheeler, Dustin Mire, and Ben Adams shot 292 on Sunday and finished
at five-under 427, as did the OakWing squad of Craig Campo, Dusty Green,
Ben Hargis, Trey Coker, Chris Queen, and Keith Breazeale.
The Championship drew 18 teams from across the state of Louisiana. Clubs
participating in the event are represented by six-man teams. Saturday’s
play consisted of four-ball stroke play with each team counting the two
best of their three four-ball scores. Sunday’s play consisted of
individual stroke play with a team’s score being determined by the best
four of six individual scores.
The 2008 LGA Club Team Championship was conducted at the Atchafalaya
Golf Club at Idlewild, a Robert Van Hagge designed facility just north
of Morgan City in Patterson. Playing to a par of 72 at 6811 yards, the
course continued to draw rave reviews from this strong LGA field.
