PRESS RELEASE LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION ENTRY APPLICATIONS, ONLINE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE FOR 2008 AMATEUR AND NET AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS March 10, 2008 -- Online registration and hard-copy entry applications are available for the first three events on the Louisiana Golf Association’s 2008 Championship schedule. The LGA annually conducts eight (8) Championships, beginning in late April with the Club Team Championship and concluding in mid September with the Senior Four-Ball Championship. “We are pleased to continue our policy that will see $100 refunds (from the $200 entry fee) sent to individuals that don’t proceed past qualifying rounds play in both the Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships,” said Carr McCalla, LGA Executive Director. “With the continuation of this policy and the great venues that we have on tap this year we hope we may set entry records in a number of our events this year.” In order to register online for LGA Championships in 2008, one must simply log onto the LGA’s homepage at www.LGAgolf.org and select ‘Online Tournament Registration.’ From there, simply follow the prompts for registration. Navigation through the online entry is an easy process. Online registration will be available for all 2008 LGA Championships with the exception of the Club Team Championship. Opening date for online registration for the Net Amateur and Amateur Championships was February 1; for the Junior Amateur, Four-Ball, and Mid-Amateur Championships, April 1; and for the Senior Amateur and Senior Four-Ball Championships, June 1. Entry forms may be downloaded from www.LGAgolf.org and forwarded to the LGA office, and are also available by calling the LGA office. “Eligibility for LGA Championships requires that a participant be a member of a LGA Member Club in good standing and a resident of Louisiana for 90 days prior to the first day of the event,” said McCalla. “If one has a LGA Handicap Network number, that will suffice to validate an individual’s membership. If a participant belongs to a LGA Member Club that does not participate in the LGA Handicap Network, we require a Member Club contact person be listed on the entry form for validation of membership.” The LGA has again put together an attractive schedule for 2008. The Club Team Championship kicks the campaign off at the Atchafalaya GC at Idlewild in Patterson. Other venues for this year’s Championships are: Net Amateur/Santa Maria GC (Baton Rouge); Amateur Championship/Gray Plantation (Lake Charles); Junior Amateur/Santa Maria GC (Baton Rouge); Four-Ball/Carter Plantation (Springfield); Mid-Amateur/Ellendale Country Club (Houma); Senior Amateur/Farm d’Allie GC (Lafayette); Senior Four-Ball/Lake Charles Country Club.
