LEW WARD ELECTED TO PRESIDENCY OF LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION

Lafayette, LA - March 5, 2008 - The Louisiana Golf Association, at its recent Board of Directors meeting at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, elected Lew Ward to a 2-year term as President of the organization. Ward, a resident of Baton Rouge, has been a member of the LGA Board of Directors, representing Beaver Creek Golf Club, since June of 2002. In addition to his administrative duties with the LGA, Ward is also an accomplished player, having competed in a number of LGA Championships over the years. He partnered with Baton Rouge’s Scott Rabenhorst to capture the 1995 LGA 4-Ball Championship.

Other elected officers are Mike Ameen of Southern Trace CC as Vice-President, and Keith Breazeale of OakWing GC as Secretary-Treasurer.

New appointees to the LGA Board of Directors are Bobby Bernard of the University Club, Doug Farr of Bayou DeSiard CC, John Schiller of the CC of Louisiana, and Ben Thibeaux of Oakbourne CC.

Returning members of the Board include: Mason Rudolph of Tchefuncta CC, Butch Marshall and Ronnie Averett of Oak Knoll CC, Corky Yates of OakWing GC, John Gregory of Gray Plantation, Bret Cuneo of Ellendale CC, Jean Hall of Squire Creek CC, Dave Kaspar of Lake Charles CC, John Mendell of Oakbourne CC, Henri Wolbrette of Audubon GC, and Mike Morgan of Palmetto CC.

Retiring in February after six years of service were: Immediate Past President John Luffey of Bayou DeSiard CC, Stu Braud of False River CC, and Craig Webb of Southern Trace CC.

The Louisiana Golf Association is the governing body for amateur golf in Louisiana and, in addition to conducting the major amateur championships statewide, also provides course rating and handicapping services to its member clubs.
