January 3, 2012 – Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana Golf Association is pleased to announce a new addition to its full-time staff.  Logan Ray, who spent 2011 as the LGA’s USGA Boatwright intern, has recently been hired as the Director of Championship Operations for the organization and will be responsible for the LGA’s numerous Championships, as well as serving the organization in a number of other capacities.

“We are so fortunate to have Logan continue his service to the LGA and are excited to have him become a part of our full-time staff.  His tenure here as our Boatwright intern gave us a great opportunity to see just how well he fit in with all of our various constituencies.  When the LGA Board approved our recommendation to expand the staff, it was obvious that Logan would be a perfect fit for this new position,” said LGA Executive Director Carr McCalla.

Logan is from Estill Springs, Tennessee, and graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South, in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.  He played baseball for four years and football for two years at Sewanee, and was a member of the Order of Gownsmen, the university’s academic honor society.  As mentioned, Logan was the USGA P.J. Boatwright, Jr. Intern for the LGA in 2011.  His time working in this capacity reinforced the notion that he would like to pursue a career in golf administration.

“I would like to thank Carr McCalla and Lee Rainwater for their guidance and support.  I could not ask for better guys to work with.  They have taught me a tremendous amount about golf administration, the importance of doing things the right way, and protecting the integrity of the game.  I would also like to thank everyone who has welcomed me to Louisiana.  Working for the LGA this past year has been both enjoyable and enlightening.  I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the LGA as Director of Championship Operations, and I am excited about the future of our organization,” said Ray.

The Louisiana Golf Association is the governing body for amateur golf in the state.  It serves over 100 Member Clubs and in excess of 17,000 individual members.  Its offices are in Lafayette.
