June 7, 2009 – Seventy-two holes couldn’t decide
a Champion, so Andrew Loupe and Ken Looper played a little longer. After finishing Sunday’s final round tied at eleven-under par 277, they headed back to the 16th tee at English Turn Golf & Country Club to determine a winner in the 2009 Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championship. Looper’s tee shot found the waste area right of the fairway and nestled up against the edge, giving him an extremely difficult stance, facing the huge bunker fronting the green on the 430-yard par-four hole. Loupe’s drive was also right but found the first cut of rough with a decent lie. Looper elected to pitch out and give himself a chance at an up-and-down par, while Loupe hit his second 18 feet behind the hole. Looper’s third ended 12 feet out, with a realistic chance to save par. With Looper lining up his par putt, Loupe rolled his 18 footer for birdie in the back of the hole, ending a battle royale that played out over the final 36 holes of this, the 90th edition of this Championship....more >>
June 6, 2009 -- New Orleans, LA -- While the lead never changed hands, it still must have felt like musical chairs for the final group in Saturday’s third round of the LGA Amateur Championship at English Turn Golf & Country Club. Second round leader Ken Looper of Mandeville shot 73 on Saturday, with Ruston’s Matthew Harvey firing a three-under par 69, and Andrew Loupe of Baton Rouge finishing with a two-under par round of 70; Looper still leading after 54 holes at nine-under par 207, with Harvey and Loupe two shots back at seven-under 209....more >> WORLD GOLF NEWS
