June 12, 2012 — Lafayette, LA — The 2012 Louisiana Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship will be held at Links on the Bayou in Alexandria, July 11-13.  Along with the opportunity to play a championship links course, the LGA junior golfers will be treated to a hamburger cookout/rules meeting that will take place the evening of July 10.  The meeting is always an educational experience for the junior players, as they get to learn the rules of the game from LGA Executive Director, Carr McCalla.  This year, participants in the LGA Junior Amateur Championship will also have the opportunity to learn from Louisiana collegiate golf coaches.

Coaches from every college golf team in Louisiana have been invited to participate in a panel discussion with questions submitted by the Junior Amateur participants.  Participation commitments have already been received by LSU Coach Chuck Winstead, UL-Lafayette Coach Theo Sliman, and Louisiana Tech Coach Jeff Parks.  Those players striving to take their game to the next level will have the chance to gain insight on how to do so and what to expect when they get there.  This Q & A session is in compliance with NCAA guidelines, and parents of participants are invited as well.  The rules meeting/cookout will begin at 7:30, with the Q & A session to take place immediately thereafter.

Only LGA Junior Amateur participants will be allowed to attend the meeting and Q & A session.  Deadline for entries for the event is Tuesday, July 3.  To enter online visit the LGA’s website at www.LGAgolf.org, or call the LGA offices at 337.265.3938.
