LGA ANNOUNCES 2012 CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE

January  24, 2012 — Lafayette, LA — The Louisiana Golf Association is pleased to announce its 2012 Championships Schedule. The LGA will again host nine championships starting with the Club Team Championship in late April and finishing with the Senior Four-Ball Championship in mid-September.

The season will be headlined by the 93rd Amateur Championship at TPC Louisiana in New Orleans. Site of the PGA Tour's annual Zurich Classic, the TPC Louisiana track is hosting this championship for the second time in six years, having also served as the Championship venue in 2007. The Pete Dye-design is also scheduled to host the 2013 LGA Junior Amateur and 2015 LGA Mid-Amateur.

Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, just east of Ruston, will be ready to challenge the best 25 years of age and older players in the 2012 Mid-Amateur Championship. Designed by Tom Fazio, Squire Creek has been ranked as either the No. 1 or No. 2 course in Louisiana by Golf Digest since the facility opened in the early 2000s.

BRYANT FORTIN BEGINS HIS INTERNSHIP WITH THE LGA

January 10, 2012 – Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana Golf Association is excited to announce the addition of a new staff member.  Bryant Fortin, a native of Ellington, Connecticut, began his USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship on January 9th and will remain with us until December of 2012.  Bryant graduated from East Tennessee State University in December 2010 with a degree in Sport Management.  During his time as a college student, he worked at Johnson City Country Club and served two summers with the Tennessee Golf Association running their TGA Junior Tour for the Tri-Cities region.  After graduation, Bryant worked with the Kentucky Golf Association for five months assisting with tournament operations for their Pepsi Junior Tour.

LOGAN RAY HIRED AS LOUISIANA GOLF ASSOCIATION’S DIRECTOR OF CHAMPIONSHIP OPERATIONS

January 3, 2012 – Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana Golf Association is pleased to announce a new addition to its full-time staff.  Logan Ray, who spent 2011 as the LGA’s USGA Boatwright intern, has recently been hired as the Director of Championship Operations for the organization and will be responsible for the LGA’s numerous Championships, as well as serving the organization in a number of other capacities.

NOTICE: NEW LGA HANDICAP NETWORK INFO/TRAINING

This page has been created to provide information and training on the new LGA Handicap Network (LHN).  It includes training videos FAQ documents.

The new LHN is a handicap system that allows golfers to post scores, track statistics, communicate with fellow members, and access a robust database of golf courses.  In essence, the LHN provides a handicap, but it is not just a handicap.
